Skilled Migrant Visa Australia

We have been assisting several clients with their Australian applications for several years. The General Skilled Migration (GSM) Program is the only path for skilled workers to emigrate to Australia.

Foreign Skilled workers must meet the minimum criteria, in order to qualify for the below Australian Skilled Visa Categories:

  • SKILLED – INDEPENDENT VISA (Subclass 189)
  • SKILLED – NOMINATED VISA (Subclass 190)
  • SKILLED – REGIONAL VISA (Subclass 491)

1. SKILLED – INDEPENDENT VISA (Sub class 189)

The Skilled – Independent Visa (subclass 189) is the most popular skilled migration category Under this category there is no state or family sponsorship. Hence, you will have the liberty to choose a state of your preference under this category.
Here’s how to get an Australia student visa from Dubai.

With this visa, you can get the below benefits;

  • Stay in Australia permanently
  • Work and study in Australia
  • Enroll in Australia’s public health care scheme, Medicare
  • Sponsor your relatives to come to Australia
  • Travel to and from Australia for 5 years
  • If eligible, become an Australian citizen
  • Stay in Australia permanently

To be eligible you must;

  • have an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list
  • have a suitable skills assessment for the occupation
  • be invited to apply for this visa
  • satisfy the points test

Processing times period;

  • 75% of applications: 8 months
  • 90% of applications: 9 months
  • Whether you have lodged a complete application, including all necessary supporting documents
  • How quickly you respond to any requests for additional information
  • How long it takes to receive additional information from external agencies, particularly in relation to health, character and national security requirements for permanent migration visa applications,
  • How many places are available in the migration program

2. SKILLED – NOMINATED VISA (Sub class 190)

The Skilled – Nominated Visa (subclass 190) is a category for skilled applicants looking to emigrate to Australia who is sponsored by an Australian State or Territory. Since it is based on state sponsorship, a minimum stay of 2 years in that particular state is mandatory.

With this visa, you can;

  • Stay in Australia permanently
  • Work and study in Australia
  • Enroll in Australia’s public health care scheme, Medicare
  • Sponsor your relatives to come to Australia
  • Travel to and from Australia for 5 years
  • If eligible, become an Australian citizen

3. SKILLED – REGIONAL VISA (Sub class 489)

This is a temporary visa. It is for skilled workers who want to live and work in regional Australia.

*Please note: From November 15, 2019 the invited pathway visa will be closed to new applications*

4. SKILLED – REGIONAL VISA (Sub class 491)

Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa will replace the current 489 visa and commences November 16, 2019.

The new Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) subclass 491 visa will enable eligible skilled workers and their families to live, work and study in designated regional areas of Australia for 5 years.

Visa holders will be eligible to apply for a Permanent Residence visa after three years.

Applicants for this visa must be nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency or sponsored by an eligible family member residing in a designated regional area and be invited to apply for the visa.

The skilled migration points test will change from November 16, 2019. The changes will affect subclass 491 applicants as well as applications for other skilled migration visas that have not been assessed at that time (but only in a way that is beneficial for applicants, by providing additional points).

The new points details are:

  • 15 points for nomination by a State or Territory government agency or sponsorship by a family member residing in regional Australia, to live and work in regional Australia;
  • 10 points for a skilled spouse or de facto partner (Skills assessment and Competent English); OR 5 points for a spouse or de facto partner with ‘competent English’;
  • 10 points for certain Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) qualifications;
  • 10 points for applicants without a spouse or de facto partner.
